About those Boston attacks

Surely you remember the attacks at the Boston marathon. Nothing more needs to be said about that day.

But what about after? No Miranda rights for the American suspect. A lockdown of the city. etc. Were these measures necessary?

You'll see little to no discussion of such issues in the US mainstream media. But in the independent media, you will. Including America's inability to understand what motivated these two young men ...

One excerpt from the story hints at the criticial nature of the author's focus:

"Neither Islam nor ethnic heritage is the explanation for what led the Tsarnaevs to do what they did. They spent formative years in Boston, being educated there and, seemingly, knowing life there better than anywhere else. It is through our communities that we are connected to these events, and it is in those communities that we should begin our search for explanations."

Remember Timothy McVeigh? White guy. Eric Robert Rudolph? White guy. Alleged mailer of Ricin? White guy. And what about all those school shooters and mass killers? White guys. And none of them Muslims, by the way.

So there are not stories in the media about their race and ethnicity and religion and their role in the attacks. So why with the Boston bombers?

Is religion about love or exclusion and aggression?

Should a religious or moral issue be used as a weapon?

Is that God's message?

And is this hyopcrisy? (IMHO, the answer is yes).

Spiritual hypocrisy in same-sex marriage debate?

Some people wonder if the black church will punish President Obama for announcing support for same-sex marriage. Here's another question: Why would the black church cite scripture to exclude gays when a similar approach to the Bible was used to enslave their ancestors?

God sent the shooter?

God sent the shooter in Arizona who killed a nine-year old girl in Arizona.

Yes, people actually believe this. And they plan on protesting at her funeral.

Only now a new law will require them to be at least 300 feet away.

This is a freedom of speech issue. But also a decency issue.

Cause and effect?

The Middle East--including even Iraq--used to be relatively safe for Christians.

Then the US invaded Iraq.

Now, Christians have fled the country in record numbers and attacks against Christians have risen.

If this is a causal relationship, it should appear in the dictionary under "irony." And those people who think we're there because "they" worship the wrong God should be confronted with this kind of evidence.

One of Saddam Hussein's top advisors--Tariz Azia--was Christian. And Christians went to church twice a week in Iraq without fear of attacks by "Islamic fundamentalists" and "terrorists" and people with "links to" al-Qaeda. And that's because they were not there.

Until we invaded.

Now the attacks are spreading.
