Yes, there is more, but not much more.

I am from Boone, so I often hop on to the Watauga Democrat's website, but the stories they cover are so focused on crime that I have started to look at Goblueridge.net because it seems to be so much less crime focused. While most of the same stories are covered on both, the latter will actually have stories about events that are happening in the high country. I think that it's great to be able to see the focus on crime, even in a small town online newspaper, and to see how much influence it has, as far as making readers concerned about crime issues
ReplyDeleteIt seems like ever since the newspaper article in January--Meth is all the Watauga Democrat can focus on. It's become ridiculous. I mean the guy was in a parking lot with meth. So what! Look at him--i think he has done enough damage to himself. But, since we live in a society where there is a "war on drugs" we have to PAY for this guy to go to jail. I mean what harm is a meth head in a food lion parking lot causing. I don't know how everyone else feels, but by the looks of it this guy needs help and not jail! I would much rather pay to send this guy to a hospital/rehab facility then behind bars!
ReplyDeleteI read the Watauga Democrat purely for laughs. For example, the marjuana bust above. I love that guys mug shot. He couldn't be smiling bigger. And I guess rightfully so since the W.D dubbed his growhouse "one of the most elaborate indoor marijuana-growing systems ever discovered". haha.
