Crime victims often reduced to labels

Given the brevity of most media accounts of crime, as well as editorial deadlines, it should not be surprising that we rarely get to know much about crime victims.

But, in this country, at least we can know their names. Many victims abroad, including those who die at the hands of our foreign policy, are never known by anyone.

I wonder what they might say about me if I was a victim? What about you?
