When the national media tries this hard to produce stories to capture tv ratings and not actually produce any information worth knowing is exactly why I rarely watch news channels like CNN and FOX. Even though ignorance in no excuse, it is hard learn about "real" news, when trivial stories like these are being aired.
I agree with Alex, it is more and more difficult to find hard news stories. Not only do we still have trouble with it, we are in a position where we hear more about it than plenty of people. Without Dr. Robinson's mentions of ProPublica and other solid news sources, all we would have is headlines like these (from today): 2 killed, 4 wounded in nightclub shooting. Human Teeth found on N.Y. beach. Oregon prison on lockdown after riots.
None of this news affects us, at all, and it will continue to be what is shoved into our face.
