Murder a hamster, make the news!

Oh brother.

Should the words "hamster" and "felony" ever be used together?

This is a horrible crime, but is it really NATIONAL news?ttp://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110310/us_nm/us_crime_hamster

  1. In Chapter four, it discusses children and teenagers in the media. They are usually paid attention to when it involves bad news. The media usually draws attention to the negative aspects of the youth. The teen acted out in a cruel way to the family pet and is facing possible felony charges. Clearly, the teenager didn't use appropriate ways to resolve disputes at home. The teen resulted to violence that ultimately lead to the demise of the hamster. Perhaps, the media's focus on crime and violence has led to the youth acting out in violent ways as a way to resolve conflict. The media also focused on a rare and violent kind of story. In Chapter four, it is stated that juveniles are more likely to be focused on when murder is involved, even though it is actually quite rare.
