Egypt's upheaval takes dangerous new turn

Violence erupts in the streets of Cairo as thousands of Mubarak supporters attack protesters. Chaotic scenes

See, we can always count on the media to step in when things start going bad.

  1. I'm going to be honest, I'm uneducated when it comes to the news because of the lack of interest, but when i do use a media, like the internet, and see the news on the homepage that is all I see, the Middle East or a foreign country in general going insane. When are the military of these countries going to stop letting these people act a fool? When are they going to start making examples out of people going against the orders giving? The military of these foreign countries are looking very suspect.

  2. Crime sales! As we note this is front page news, why do we care? Well, we should just because we are humans with emotions and values and it is very sad to see how in every part of the world we attack each other. But , when we talk about media we already know that the US rarely report foreign news, but in this case the media knows that crime sales, therefore they are making more money portraying anything due with violence and crime. As reading the article, I notice how the media tries to balance the information from both sides the protesters and the supporters, but as we talk in class it is very hard to get objective news….since big corporations own the media controlling what to portray in the news to get more profit.

  3. Actually, Phil, not sure where you get your news, but research shows that international stories are rarely seen in the press, unless major events like this happen.

As for the military of these countries, they are actually part of the problem, involved in the oppression of the people there. The people want democratic government, just as we do.
