The Governor says it is necessary to solve the budget crisis.
Critics say it is just politics (because the unions are heavily Democratic and the Governor is Republican).
Now we know who is right.
A billionaire funder of politics around the country--one of the Koch brothers--called and got through to the Governor. This is the same guy who funds one of the national Tea Party groups and who hosts secret meetings of powerful people around the country to suggest strategies to impact policy. He talked to the Governor for 20 minutes.
And we only know about it because it was not really Mr. Koch but instead was a man described as a "liberal blogger." So the truth has come out what this is really all about.
It's just politics.
(now imagine if you lived in Wisconsin and wanted to talk to the Governor. Could you get through and talk to him for 20 minutes? Shows you the power of money in this country when a person living outside the state can get through and capture 20 minutes of the Governor's time.) As noted in the article: "So! I am in favor of the bill. How is it fair for union members to pay $1 in and have the state pay $57? It's not. The protest is an anarchy and is not right. The state is already in serious debt and these people want tax payers to pay more? Its not ok to make people that are already struggling to get by to keep paying higher taxes. Why does Obama support them? He supports them because they are the ones to vote him into office. It pisses me off to watch it on the news over and over. And the democrats run off to make a stand. Disappearing doesnt make the problem go away, it only makes it worse. Thats bullshit.
