Jon Stewart takes on the local news

You remember the story of the homeless man with the golden voice discovered on the street who was given a job and house? Well, why not go on a hunt in your area by the local news to discover other homeless people with talents? Maybe we can get them jobs, too?

Click on the link below. After the commercial, jump to the 1 minute, ten second mark and watch Jon Stewart address how the local news LINK a previous story to their own area to try to make more news relevant to their own viewers.

  1. I don't know what else to say other than "wow". As soon as Jon Stewart said a local reporter was attempting to find more talent out on the streets I knew that couldn't be a good idea. I don't understand what possessed her, her camera crew and the station itself to do that (and think it was okay). It was very distasteful of her to ask the woman if she had heard about Ted Williams; that answer would be a clear no, obviously. Although, they did wrap the segment up a little better I still believe the reporter's motive wasn't JUST to help the homeless. Who knows what kind of raise/promotion (etc) the reporter from Ohio received from finding the Golden Voice. I would like to think the woman report's heart was in the right place.
